It is odd that the world still spins without Sister in it.  I walk up expecting to hear her muttering under her breath about brainless lizards or sharpening her throwing knives.  I see glimpses of red in town and my heart skips thinking it’s her that just duck down that alleyway or went into that shop…but I know, she is buried deep beneath the desert she hated so much.  Pinroy dug her grave deep and said kind words about her…well in his own words…that she was grumpy and was sometimes mean to him, but she had a beautiful red crest and liked Blibdoolpoolp.  I got mad and told him he his tail was long, and I could tell it hurt his feelings as he is so sensitive about his tail…but really…he just buried my sister!

Grimgold told us that he was heading out to consult with some of the representatives of the circle of eight He told us the staff was in Ran Mondule most likely in the catacombs.  Apparently, a group of the adventurers guild went down there never to be heard of again. We are a bit leery of fighting the lich as his lieutenant was very formidable but, according to Grimgold the Sun Lich is at his weakest right now.  I think we should go to the bank and claim our treasure and find our ship as Wave wants to use to have his revenge on the sea demons and sail far away from the Sea of Dust.  But let’s say we do decide to do this…not only do we need to get the staff we have to then go back to the City of Warmth…NONE of us want to do that…to destroy Onapegro’s sister’s heart and maybe Onapegro herself.  Anyway, that is getting ahead of ourselves.  First, we need to offload some stuff on the Durgar.

Scorch and Oberon were not very excited about going to level 502 of the Abyss, but we told them normally we just have dealings with the dwarves..only once did we have to fight demons. We were taken to Phillip in the forge room and were able to trade many of our items for Boots of Wall Climbing, Boots of Spell Storage and upgrading Wave’s sword, meshing the magic of his long sword into the sword that makes  him act like he is a good guy.

When we get back to our rooms we hear commotion coming from outside.  A troupe of dragonborn…RED dragonborn with slaves are coming down the middle of the road and the guards are letting them pass.  Most of the dragonborn stop near the gate while the largest of them along with one of their drakes heads to the mayor’s keep. I use my new boots of wall climbing and go down to Garhopper’s office startling him.  “Why aren’t the guards attacking the dragonborn.  Aren’t a lot of Boartore population ex-slaves.”

“We usually let them pass through as if we show resistance, we will have them come down upon us four fold.”

“I don’t like it.” I slip out and tell the boys what Garhopper says.

Not much later the large dragonborn and his drake meet up and they start making camp not far from Grimgold’s house, near the front gates. A knock on our door and there is a representative from the mayor’s office saying the mayor wants to see us.

The mayor says the dragonborn were asking about escaped slaves giving descriptions of Pinroy and Wave. He said we should discourage them from coming back- pretend we are bandits and rough them up a bit so they don’t want to hang around Boartore anymore. He gave us some bandit disguises and we waited until the dark of night and attacked the camp.

Scorch stayed up on Grimgold’s roof while Wave, Oberon and I engaged.  We were outnumbered and they had a mage that was doing as much damage to us as Scorch was doing to them. He did kill off most of the archers on the slave cart which helped hugely but we had to take the mage down.  Oberon went down and got behind the mage and was able to kill him, but then Wave and I were surrounded and both of us went down under dragonborn.  I came to and thought I was hallucinating Pinroy riding a giant scorpion and a drake gnawing on my arm.  I stabbed the drake and was still reeling when Pinroy and Scorch got the rest to run toward the gate.  “Sea Devils of the Well” we cried after them.  I think we roughed them up quite a bit rougher than the mayor wanted…but then again the Sea Devils of the Well don’t like Red Dragonborn.

We went back to the Inn to lick our wounds and tomorrow we head to Ran Module.
