The Death of Fritz

We took a short rest and Slave, the Kobold, who doesn’t remember his name so goes as Slave, but I will call him Charlie, told us that if the dogs were her Fritz could not be too far behind. A sewer water fall leads to a lower level of the sewers.  Charlie, aka Slave, says that is the furthest he has been.  He usually picks up the supplies down at the bottom of the waterfall.  When we look down the sewage calls about sixty feet into a river of sewage and at the bottom is a ladder.  Before we go Wave spots something shiny in the piles of bones the dogs were guarding.  Wave and I go and investigate and find: 150 cp/30 sp/150 gp/1 large red gem.  Wave gives all the items to Oberon and then Ronyn lowers him as far as she can and he jumps the rest.  He swims a little way and hears voices coming from deeper in the tunnel.  He comes back and puts the ladder up.  Pinroy is able to see that there is an arm – torn off form someone laying on the other side of the sewer and a little way down from us there is an open room and there seems to be a fight happening.  Pinroy as Glendapoop to bless us with his sight and we are able to see a group of Dragonborn fighting some sort of monsters. Many of the dragonborn have falling and are pulling back across to our side going into another open room. Charlie, aka Slave, says that usually Fritz and his men ignore that room and seemed to be afraid of it.  Based on the number of dead Dragonborn I could see why.

Mak and Ronyn want to swim under the sewage and see if they can get passed the fight.  Oberon says he is Shadar-Kai and doesn’t swim in sewage.  Whatever?  Wave disappears in the sewage without a word and Pinroy goes running toward the room that all the Dragonborn yelling “Look how far I made it.” Oberon goes after him.  Ronyn and I look at each other…what the hell is going on?  Oberon comes back to tell us that Pinroy is in the room with a bunch of Dragonborn trying to make nice.  “We need to leave,” I say, “while he is distracting them.  The monsters don’t seem to be pursuing them.”

But Oberon says we wait until the battle is over.  Ronyn and I get in the sewage, Charlie, aka Slave, comes with us.

We hear Pinroy yelling  “Help help” and starts running toward us almost running across the sewage with his long legs and arms flaying and ruff all puffed out around his head.  He looks almost comical and I would have laughed but he was leading Fritz and all his cronies right too us!

Look, Pinroy he’s a good guy always trying to please, healing us, using his magic from Belindapoop to help us out, but he is not the smartest lizard guy.  Oberon is going to have to put a leash on him!

Ronyn, Charlie aka Slave, and I slipped under the sewage.  It was not the most pleasant of experiences, in fact probably right up there with Dragonborn prison torture, but it was a way to a means.  Ronyn and I were connected by the chain that had connected us for so long in prison.  We started forward.

What happened next I just heard about, but apparently after Pinroy told Oberon that the Dragonborn had beat him up and they are no longer his friends he trooped over to the monster side of the tent and asked if they would go and kill the Dragonborn for a tentacle and a dead rat.  The monsters said that as long as we helped them defeat the monsters then they would do it, but we had to make first strike.

Some of the Dragonborn seeing the monsters come back over to the edge of the sewer decided they had had enough fighting and began to run for the exit.  They didn’t count on Wave who came out of the sewage like some blue lagoon creature, poop dripping off his hair, and he struck one of them from behind killing him.

That’s all the monsters needed and started across the sewage.  Fritz called to his men but another dove in the sewage with “COWARD” ringing in his ears.  The battle began again.

Pinroy started calling on Belindapoop to cause the sewer to tremble, and Ronyn pulled me up to see what was happening.  We saw the monster lair empty and slipped up grabbing 3 Bucklers from the dead dragonborn.  We couldn’t use them but maybe the others could.  Oberon and Bones joined us while Pinroy’s eyes started glowing.  Wave dispatched another fleeing Dragonborn then started attacking from behind.

The big monster went down with a crash and then all Ronyn and I saw was Fritz.  Fritz who killed Bo, Fritz who captured us and tortured us and put us in solitary for weeks on end.  All our anger, our hatred for the dragonborn zeroed on Fritz.  Ronyn and I attacked him with our slings Fritz chopped the head off the second monster and punted it into the cave behind us. We moved in and started attacking with our short swords.  The headless monster blindly attacked him with his claws. I fell but Pinroy got me back on my feet and Ronyn and I attacked him again until finally my short sword sliced deep into his chest and I twisted upward, gutting him.  The red blood rage that had overtaken us cleared and we saw Pinroy was down and Oberon was down. The headless troll fell again.  Bone had he had gone after one of the monsters.  Ronyn and I stabilized Oberon and Pinroy but Bones fell and we could do nothing for him. Wave dragged the headless beast over to the campfire and began to roost his body.  The only monster still alive grabbed the still jabbering head and disappeared down one of the piles.

We were spent.  We grabbed what we could off the bodies. 2 heavy crossbows – 24 bolts each (Ronyn/Mak); Long sword (Wave); Short sword (Wave’s sack); Whip (Magic) – Oberon; Leather Belt (Mak); Dragon Ante set (Mak); 30 sp (Mak)

While Pinroy and Wave rested. Ronyn and I guarded the entrance to one of the lairs while Oberon dashed in. He called there was a trunk.  I went down and found myself in a 10’x10’ room lined with tiny dragonborn skulls…like dragonborn children skulls.  I checked the chest for traps and found gems (2 large; 3 med; 9 small) (Mak); 500 gp (Ronyn); 6 healing potions (2 Wave; 2 Ronyn; 1 Oberon; 1 Mak);

Oberon started pulling down the skulls and tripped a trap that released gas throughout the chamber.  I left, but he kept pulling.  One skull held 1 big emerald (Mak); Supreme Heal – Oberon; and a poison dart…with no poison – it was in Oberon (Mak); very nice belt (Oberon).   We went back across to where Wave and Penroy were resting and slept.

We awoke and Wave heard about the skulls and wanted to try his luck but we heard the sound of dragonborn from the way we had come.  We yelled to wave who grabbed a skull that exploded in his hand.  We moved to the cavern end where it ended in a waterfall with a pool on the bottom.  The shouts got louder and we jumped.  Lucky the pool was deep.

There was a river of sewage that flowed out the other side of this very large cavern.  There were boats and goblins eating the other two dragonborn that had fled.  In the boats – glory be- were backpacks and rope.  Oberon and Pinroy got in the first boat and Wave disappeared in the sewage going after the second boat.  The feasting goblins fled yipping back to what seemed to be a hodge-podge pile of rocks.  More goblins came out and started shooting us with short bows.

From the other side we heard loud croaking and toad people started flowing out entering the sewage.  We feared for Wave as we could not see him.  Ronyn and I kicked while Pinroy and Oberon tried to paddle…Pinroy was not very good.  They soon realized they were sitting ducks and we each grabbed a backpack and Oberon grabbed 50’ rope.  Wave did the same.  We followed Oberon toward the toad people side of the river.  We hid behind some rocks and started making our way toward the other side of the canyon.
