Boartore was one of those small towns that Sister, me and our circus family would frequent often.  Wasn’t big but they liked a good show and always usually had trouble in the way of monsters that pay us to take care of for them.  We entered town and saw no dragonborn of the red variety.  Seymour told us that many of the residents were escaped slaves from the City of Warmth’s dungeons.  There was also a branch of the adventurer’s guild here and Seymour said it would behoove us to talk with them as they are familiar with the area.

Seymour left us, heading to his family’s abode while we went toward the Dragon Rest Inn.  There were small hovels and grander homes, a church, an Inn – Dragon Rest Inn, and what looked like a keep on the hill.  There were town guards milling about and one of them, Felick, offered his services to act us our guide (for a fee).  Wave ignores him as he sees a fountain across from the Inn and runs toward it doing a swan dive in.  He comes up with a splutter – it’s deep!

Felick ignores him and tells us the adventurers’ guild was on the second floor of the Dragon Rest Inn, lead by a knight from Furyondy by the name of Keld Garhopper. He pointed out a group of adventurers who had a camp close to the inn – the 5 Swords – looking for a new adventurer (lost one of the swords on their last quest).  One of the grander houses toward the front gates is owned by The Wizard who is looking for a Wizard Apprentice (for a price of course).  The church is for the god of ?? is run by a Father Jonathan. There is a shop that sells healing supplies run by Old Mildred.  The Mayer (a Baron) lives at the keep.  Felick leaves us in the capable hands of Edward Stonewell the proprietor of the Dragon Rest Inn.

It is a large inn though not so crowded with mostly humans occupying the tables, some elves, and an orcish type fellow.  Nobody pays us any mind.  We get three rooms on the third floor and are told we can go to the Adventurers Guild in the early afternoon.  We all decide to take much needed baths and eat prior to meeting Sir Garhopper.  The rooms each have two beds and their own privies with water pumps.

Garhopper was a likeable fellow who was finely dressed and let us know if we would like to join the guild we would have to purchase a map and go on a quest.  There are different levels of the guild – copper, silver, gold and such and your level depends on your quest.  If we do a quest for the guild they get 5% of the take.

There were a few quests available:

·       Spell components from a dragon – apparently there has been a red dragon stealing from the crypts, I wonder who that could be.

·       Mayor’s daughter drowned in the well with a very fine ring that the Mayor would like back.

·       There are creatures roaming the outside of the town that many swear have demon blood.

·       There is an interloper in the desert – Rary who it is told has been captured by the Sun Lich.  Rary is the betrayer of the council of nine. He may be the one that we hear on our heads asking us to come and rescue him.  It is said that Rary is looking for an artifact.

We tell him we are looking for the lair of the red dragon, (Zelifar aka Bill). Garhopper says there is an old wizard who used to adventure but had to give it up due to all his loss of limbs.  He knows of the red dragon.  Wizard’s name is Glimgold.  He took one item from the dragon’s hoarde. Also - we are told that Grimgold knows how to break the staff of the Sun Lich.

We thank Garhopper for his time and we let him know we will get back with him once we talk more as a group.  We make a plan:

·       Visit the Durgar and purchased:

o   5 scrolls (scorch)

o   Kyshaarth’s Fang (myself)

o   Band of Thorns (Pinroy)

o   Potion of Bouncing (myself)

o   Ring of Negation (Scorch)

o   5 Dragon Broths (Wave, Oberon, Ronyn, Scorch)

o   Brazen Band (Wave)

·       Scorch goes to visit the Wizard of Boartore

o   Per Glimgold this Wizard had once made a pact with the Sun Lich and he banished himself from the world.

·       After Scorch gets back, we go to Glimgold’s and see a small gnome battling two demons. We think they are more of Chaos crew but Glimgold says they are minions of the Sun Lich looking for the gem shard which he stole from the dragon many moons ago.

o   Glimgold thanks us and offers us tea which heals all of our wounds.

o   He tells us the history of the Sun Lich and the two Dragon Sisters.

The Sun Lich was a worshipper of the Sun God (a long dead deity).  He was power hungry and owned many lands.

The dragon goddess Tiamat created Onapegro and her sister who went to war against the Sun Lich.  The Sun Lich sacrificed his lands to the Sun God in exchange for his staff.  With it he destroyed Onapegro’s army and her sister. Onapegro took her sister’s still beating heart to the underworlds of the City of Warmth.

The Sun Lich was defeated, but as long as the staff exists the Sun Lich exists.  The staff was disassembled, and the gem shards taken.”

Two of these gem shards defeated the Sun Lich. The other is in the Zelifar (Bill) Red Dragon’s lair. The Sun Lich’s cult has returned what remains of his staff and are looking for the gem shards. The only way to destroy the Sun Lich is destroy his staff, and the only way to destroy his staff is to destroy Onapegro’s sister’s heart with it.”

So all we have to do is:

Go to Zelifar (Bill) lair to find the second shard

Take the shard to Glimgold

Go to the Sun Lich to get his staff

Take the staff to the Hell furnances

Destroy Onapegro’s sister’s heart with staff

Staff is destroyed.

Easy Peasy…

On a plus note we are now Gold Level at the Adventurer’s Guild and we were given a quiver of 20 dragon bane arrows.  Wave and Ronyn split them.
