Oberon was gone when we had returned from the Abyss. Ronyn went to see if she could track him while Pinroy, Wave and I went to the Durgar to see if we could buy some wares from our new friends.
We arrive in the recall room and see the doors leading to the Durgar stronghold. There is a blood splashed across the stones. Based on the amount of blood there was more than one Durgar who lost their life defending these doors. There are footsteps in the blood…large giant size footsteps that are odd as each bone is outlined. Wave and I draw our swords and we continue down, me leading.
We come to a door and find Durgar huddling in the kitchen. They tell us that Chaos and his demons attacked not long after we left and many Durgar are dead. We need to help their Chieftain, Vander who is in the forge room. Go down the hall and take a left, follow that hallway to the sewers, a short cut to the forge room and probably safer. I’m glad sister isn’t here to head into a sewer. Don’t go into the room on the right as that is a crypt. Very dangerous.
Being that it is only the three of us we avoid the Crypt and head to the forge room. We come to a storage room and Pinroy found his second favorite treasure…cleaning supplies (the first is rats). He gives us a mop, bucket, scrub brush and soap and we put them in the bag of holding. Not the treasure I though the bag would be holding, but treasure is in the eye of the beholder.
We hear laughter coming through the next door and we ease it open to find an imp and a giant skeleton standing over the edge of we assume is the entrance to the sewer. The imp tells the giant skeleton to kill us and jumps into the sewers. The giant skeleton failed and we head down the sewers after him. We, of course do not jump in, we use a rope that is slick with sewage and I fall at the feet of three more skeleton giants. The imp laughs gleefully and scampers away. I scamper behind one of the skeletons and Wave and Pinroy come down. I climb up on one of the skeletons and try to bring it down. I ride it down and land next to Wave who has been taking a beating. “Climb up one,” I say. I’ll guard Pinroy. We finally are able to bring the last two down. We are bruised and bloodied but continue down to the forge room hoping that is the last of the giants. We run across the annoying imp and kill him, taking his pouch.
We get to the forge room and find Chieftain Vandar who tells us they are able to keep the remaining demons at bay as the doors are magically reenforced. Pinroy offers his healing services and we take a much needed rest.
When we awake we make a plan with the Durgar. We open the door and Wave and I will lure one in and then we shut it and take them out one at a time. Vangar and the other Durgar pull out their hammers and the doors open. There are quite a few demons out there but we are able to lure one in and between the Durgar and us we are able to bring him down. Wave cuts the demon’s head off and Pinroy uses his magic to throw his voice and cause the ground to shake as he holds up the severed head and tells the remaining demons that the power of Belindapoop is great and they will meet the same fate. It works on some of the minor demons but one large one steps up and blasts us with necrotic damage killing many of the wounded Durgar. We battle him with all we have, Wave and I are soon out of healing potions and Pinroy uses his last healing spell to get me back on my feet. Wave and I look at each other and with bloody grimaces we race toward the demon, Pinroy at our heels. If we are going down we are going down in a fight. I scamper up him and begin to slash at him, the Chieftain throws her hammer, Pinroy calls on Belindapoop for one last bit of magic, and Wave attacks the rear. The demon falls to our blades and we all collapse to the ground spent.
After we catch our breath we find the demon weapons are cursed by Orcus himself and will be destroyed by the Durgar, but the demon’s robes are protection +2 and Pinroy fancies them. The Chieftain gives us each a gift of Prayer Beads (Pinroy), Dragon Belt (Wave), Spectral Sword (me) in gratitude and tells us to come back tomorrow with Sister to see if there is anything else we may need.
