Journal of Reiah Aisari –

I stanched the blood from chest wound where that damn lizard demon slashed me and tried my best to convince Truf to leave.  We have the map, we’ll figure it out, and Truf can stay captain.  Truf said we could leave, but we didn’t think we had enough crew to get the ship to port.  He and Pew started jabbering on about wiping out all the rest of the lizard fish, and like his ancestors before, Truf would have his own labyrinth and would make a new home on this island, and he would be a true minotaur.  He was making fun of me…he is a very irritating individual, and I get why that strange gnome wanted to strangle that bird.

And to seal the deal Truf heard a muffled scream from just beyond the entry way – so forward we went.  I asked Brother Genasi to ease my pain, or I would be of little help.

One of the goblins from upstairs popped out and beckons us to follow him.  How the hell did they get down here?  Sneaky little shits had a short cut.  We enter a room that is laid out with a lizardfish feast of very stinky food.  On one of the rock altars is the first mate and tied to the chair is the captain.  There is a very large lizardfish at the head of the table and one hiding in the shadows of the corner.

Roku headed to the first mate who was groaning in pain, I followed to cover the little cleric as I knew he was as tired as I was.  Truf, Pew and Culsruth headed toward the captain. A goblin, standing on the chair beside him has a knife to the captain’s throat.

The big lizardfish requested we join him at the table so we could discuss terms of leaving their caves without anymore bloodshed.  Attack and he would tell the goblin to kill the captain.  Apparently, none of us believe him and we raised our weapons, and Pew did one of his illusions causing the goblin to think the big lizardfish told him to lower the knife.

The big lizardfish brought out the rest of the officers and told us to leave the island or they would attack in force. We thought it was a trick, but they were true to their word.  We helped the crew back to the ship and took a much-needed rest.

When we awoke, we were summoned to the captain’s quarter and after a fine meal, talk turned to the treasure.  Truf vouched for Roku and I and we had to sign that we would be part of the crew and follow the captain and then we would get a share of the treasure.  I stipulated that I only wanted one item from the treasure and Roku and his goddess could have the rest of my share.  They agreed and I signed.

Cool Breeze reminded Truf of what they read in the captain’s log and how he might have found an object that would help us find the treasure.  He pulled a chain from beneath his coat and on it was a metal angular piece with a clear gem in its center.  I knew what it was in an instant and told them that that was part of the item I wanted from the Treasure of the Lost Tempest.  The captain agreed to hand it over but wanted to show us what it did.  He instructed us to lay out the tapestry map and then brought the gem to his eye.  He said it revealed a riddle – What points a way without a hand, it floats on water but exists on land.  Pew squawked – A compass!  The moment he called out the answer, a line was drawn from the beach we are stuck on to another part of the island west of us.

Truf took his navigation instruments and drew a line where we had to go.  He estimated it would take a week for us to get there.  We could go and see what we could find, and the ship could meet us after the repairs were complete.   We would light a signal fire so they would be able to spot us.

The captain said he would accompany us and then we would head to get to Port Hope as the ship needed proper repair before we could go any further.
