Journal of Reiah Aisari –
Before Roku can perform his rites, another lizard creature jumps out at us – another of these skull helmet creatures. Truf and Culsruth lashed out, angered at finding another of their crew dead. We dispatched him and search the room. There is a box and chest. In the box is a small leather sack filled with gray sand – dust of track disappearance 3 uses. In the chest is a bone scroll tube – Speak with Plants – 250 gp, 3 med gems and a healing potion.
We head out of the room to a set of double doors – this is the room on Skippy’s map that indicates it is the treasure room. Truf opens the door as it is warped and makes a loud scrapping noise as it is pushed open. The room is littered with hundreds of gold pieces. Bookshelves line some of the walls, while nine long dust boxes are scattered throughout the room. It smells old and musty, but Pew is on the ground already waddling toward the gold pieces. Culsruth picks up one the books and reads out a passage from a stewart named Talian. When you are in Stalwart look for Della Brown and tell her nephew, Talian, is dead – she will award aid you greatly. What aid she may lend is unknown. Culsruth takes the Journal of Talian and six history books for reading later. I watch the back of the room as I am tired of being surprised.
Pew and Truf go to investigate one of the long boxes that has a compass burned into to the top of it. As Truf opens it a skeleton hand grabs him and suddenly all the crates open and we are surrounded by skeletons. Truf yells for us to get to the door, we’ll hold them off there. I think we should stay and fight, but I’ll be the good little sailor and listen, for now.
I can’t get a shot in as Truf’s massive bulk blocks me. Culsruth is able to turn some of the skeletons and they break into their boxes. We dispatch the ones that are left and then shatter the ones that fled to their boxes. We start surveying the room when the captain of the skeletons climbs out of his box to finish what his crew couldn’t. He is tough, but we’re tougher and we shatter his bones. We make sure there are no more skellies that will surprise us then loot the room looking for the treasure map that Skippy told us about. We find: a fine cutlass in a decorative scabbard (non magical +1); 2 gold necklaces; 2 broaches; 4 silver bracelets; 2 sets gold earrings; 10 bangled bracelets; skull ring – protection +1; 2,000 gp; the tapestry of the isles beyond Oljutt Sea; Eyepatch of Persuasion +2 with a diamond (100gp) on it; 2 throwing daggers – one with a turquoise handle; scale mail +1 finely made (non-magical).
We gather everything and then head back to the other room to rest for a short while. We shut the doors behind us. While resting we hear a scrapping sound and a low growl coming from the other room. After resting a while we open the door facing a huge frog demon that came from a secret passageway at the back of the treasure room. Culsruth uses his Luck of the Pirate King, and he falls down dead at our feet.
We are spent..Roku says he can barely hear is goddess he is so tired, but Turf, Culsruth and Pew are insistent we follow the passageway and find the captain. I agree with Roku, we have the map, Captain be damned, I owe him nothing. But, I need his crew and his ship to get me to the treasure, so I follow…for now.
