We woke as well rested as we can in a cavern smelling strongly of fish and goblins.  Prince Skippy and Rigo want to head back to the Underdark, their adventuring spirit sated for now.  He draws us a map as to the treasure room where he saw the treasure map and bids us farewell.

We head down the rough hued spiral stairs hugging the wall.  It is dark and dank, smelling of salt water.  Roku casts light on his shield so Truf, Pew and him can see.  We try and be as quiet as possible, but with Roku’s armor and Truf’s peg leg, and it being a cavern…I think it is near impossible.

We enter a round cavern that has large pool of water to the south.  It is hazy and smells like burning meat, but we see no sign of fire.  There is brush piled in what looks like a cut in the stone.  Truf thinks both the pool and brush area lead outside the cavern.  There is also a tunnel leading north and the Prince’s map tells us to go that way.

We look down in the pool and about 40 feet down is a humanoid figure.  Culsruth and I dived down and bring up the bloated body of another ship crew – Nardo, Truf identifies.  He has a nice dagger and scabbard with gems like shells and a silver charm around his neck.  Culsruth takes the dagger/scabbard and I pocket the silver charm.

Truf stands in front of the brush he thinks goes out and says he can hear waves crashing but based on where we are we are on a different side of the island from where the ship is.  It is good to have exit points if we need to lead this place quickly.

We are about to head down the tunnel, following the Prince’s map, when a lizardfish jumps out of the pool  This one is different.  He looks like the luring fish I used to see deep in the sea, his glowing bobble hanging from his forehead.  We make short work of him and I take his bobble.  We don’t like the pool behind us as we don’t know what is going to come out, but we don’t have much choice…the map says go forward.

The tunnel is blocked by brush and wood as if the lizardheads are trying to keep something out.  We do wonder how the goblins got through to feed them…but maybe it’s new…maybe they know their kin are being killed and this is to keep us from going deeper in their lair.  We decide to burn the brush away and then Cool Breeze uses a wind spell to drive the smoke into the cavern ahead of us.

We are jumped by seven lizardfish – but these ones seem to be taller and bulkier than the ones we have fought before…and they have shark heads, full of shark teeth.   Cool Breeze is hit, and all the shark-heads sniff the air and begin to gnash their teeth, like sharks in a frenzy when they smell blood in the water.    Cool Breeze calls them Sea Devils.

We are quickly surrounded and the spellcasters send out their spiritual weapons and an illusionary snake to help in the battle.  It is a tough fight, and we are thankful for our two clerics, but eventually we win.  We survey the room and there is a large bonfire – the smell of burning meat is coming from there.  Tied to a stone altar is another crew member, Lugwolf, who most like was going to be the next sacrifice to the Shark god.  Culsruth says they are Sohagan and he has a great hate for them as they attacked his village when he was a child. We give directions to Lugwolf and tell him to join the others in the cavern above and we’ll be back once we find the captain.  Lugwolf says he’s not sure if anyone else is alive, but Truf, Pew and Culsruth don’t want to give up.

On one of the Sohagan we find a brass key that opens a chest we found hidden in the brush.  Inside is a 200 gp, 8 small gems, 2 med gems, and a ceremonial longsword.

We take a short rest before heading into another tunnel, and it is a mud pit to the other tunnel.  It looks like only four feet deep, and we decide that Truf and I will walk across with a rope. And then the others can shimmy across it. Truf slogs ahead and I walk smack into a trap that grabs my ankle.  I balance on the rope and hold my leg up for Truf to take it off.  We keep the bear trap.

The rest shimmy across and we leave the rope so we can get across when we leave. Who knows how many more traps are down there.

We walk into the next room and there is a lizard creature, but not a fishhead…he seems to have a strange lizard face with sharp teeth.  There is another rock altar in this room as well and we see another crew member…but he is most definitely dead.  We dispatch this strange lizardman and I take his shell bracelet from him and a pouch with 100 gp and a healing potion (T).  Upon examination, Truf identifies him as Stephen.  Before Roku can perform his rites, another lizard creature jumps out at us…
